The nature of this work varies from family to family, it's personal and unique and I will adjust your care plan as needed. Postpartum support includes but is not limited to:
- Assessing the needs of the family.
- Scheduled visits to help prepare the home prior to the baby’s arrival.
- Support and education of the mother’s physical recovery after birth.
- Providing a nonjudgmental listening ear and emotional support (listening to and helping both parents process their birth story, hear concerns about their new roles as parents, etc.)
- Assist the family in finding a healthy balance in life with the addition of a new baby.
- Help parents discover their own personal bonding and nurturing style with their new baby.
- Breastfeeding/bottle support as your Certified Breastfeeding Counselor (Facilitate latch, positioning, and maintenance of supply to support the mother’s personal breastfeeding goals).
- Education and hands on newborn care (swaddling, diapering, circumcision care, umbilical cord care, bathing, routine, sleep habits, etc.)
- Grocery shopping, meal planning, and preparation of healing and comforting meals and snacks for the family (Groceries are not included in the hourly rate).
- Nursery organization.
- Light housework (dishes, running errands, laundry, organization, etc.)
- Newborn care provided to allow parents personal time as needed.
- Photographs of the family and the baby (if desired).
- Recommendations and referrals to local resources.
- Overnight support and care of baby while parents sleep (Additional fee for any overnight care).
